This is the section of our website aimed at informing Al-safi school's parents of new updates, developments, important links and curricular information regarding the schooling of each child.
The school choice a parent makes is one of the most important decisions they will ever make for their child. This decision will affect where the child will be able to study and the career options available to them.
Our “Parent Zone” features regularly updated articles, special offers and programmes available for all parents. It is broken up into the following main sections and will have new sections added intermittently.
Communication with Parents
We, at The Safi International School understand that positive interaction between school and home are vital to a child’s development and education. The school thus provides a variety of parent programmes aimed at enhancing the relationship between parents, children and the school.
The school maintains close and regular contact with parents through periodic circulars from the Principal.
The Supernet, a monthly communication from each Supervisor gives important personal information to the parents about the students in their charge.
Another form of communication between parents and teachers is the school diary. It provides parents with a daily record of the child's progress in school.
Regular parent-teacher meetings are conducted to discuss student performance and improvement. Parents are also welcome to discuss their children's progress by prior appointment.
Partnership With Parents
Al-Safi international School places great emphasis on the value of partnership between home and School. This is reflected in the Aims of the School, which include the aims that:
Our pupils will feel safe, secure, valued and happy.
Our parents/guardians will be partners with the School in promoting their children’s learning
The School encourages openness in its relationships with parents/guardians and pupils. We welcome feedback on the School’s provision and we use various means to gather feedback proactively. At all stages in their association with the School parents/guardians and pupils are provided with guidance on what to do if they have concerns. In the great majority of cases matters of concern are most effectively and expeditiously dealt with by constructive dialogue with the member of staff most directly involved in the issue (eg Class Teacher, Guidance Teacher, Subject Teacher).
Our parents/guardians will feel that they are valued members of the Heriot’s community, whose comments and concerns are listened to and expeditiously handled
If the matter cannot be resolved at that stage, it should be referred to an appropriate manager (eg Head of Department, Depute, Head of School); senior staff will recognise when issues need to be referred to the Head, who has overall responsibility for most complaints. The School has a formal procedure, set out in our Complaints Policy here, for complaints addressed to the Headmaster when, either, the complainant remains dissatisfied after pursuing all other appropriate avenues to address their concern, or they consider that their concern is sufficiently serious to warrant a direct approach to the Headmaster or Governors. We take all complaints seriously and wherever possible will seek a resolution.
